Update on Our Collaboration with the Global Burden of Animal Diseases Program

In 2022 we announced our participation with GBADs – the Global Burden of Animal Diseases Program.  In collaboration with GBADs, the World Organisation for Animal Health, the Ethiopian Ministry of Agriculture, and the International Livestock Research Institute, we have updated our Ethiopia Case Study dashboard.  You can read about the update in this post by GBADS.  You can also view the dashboards here.

An article from the World Organisation for Animal Health discusses the Global Burden of Animal Diseases (GBADs) program in Ethiopia.  Ethiopia’s significant livestock sector, contributing nearly 20% of its GDP, faces challenges from animal diseases.  The GBADs program in Ethiopia provides vital data for developing evidence-based animal health policies.  It also focuses on capacity building within the Ministry of Agriculture and other national institutions.  For more detailed information, you can read the full article here.

A case study summary gives a little more detail.  You can also review some of our other work in animal health.

In the future we hope to publish a technical brief to our library, including describing some of the calculations and the open source dashboarding and visualization tools.
